The Desoto Eagles faced two very good opponents this week. The first contender was the Waxahachie Indians. Previously this season, Desoto defeated Waxahachie and Jarius Hicklen unloaded 30 points from his arsenal.

The Indians we’re determined to stop Hicklen this time around. Their game plan was to face-guard and double-team Hicklen the entire game. Hicklen did not let Waxahachie’s defense stop him from placing his footprint on this game.

The star guard continued to put forth points by attacking the defense and getting to the free-throw line. Once he had the defense on their toes, he began to slash as a decoy to get his teammates open shots at the basket.

Hicklen ended the game with a solid performance and a good stat line of 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

The second contender was Mansfield Lake Ridge. Their first meeting this season was a close game in which Hicklen scored 22 points. Not much was different in this thrilling overtime victory.

It was another high intensity filled game with over 7 lead changes throughout. No team led by more than 5 points in regulation. Hicklen put on one of the best performances I've seen this year! The combo guard was everywhere on the court. He was hot all night, shooting from 30 feet deep, mid-range jump-shots, and scoring in the paint.

On defense, Hicklen was great! He stayed in front of his man and jumped a few passes giving him 2 steals that led to easy offensive buckets. The Star guard finished with 27 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals and gave his team the win.
